Chicago Rental Assistance

Help with your rent when you need it most

Relief, right on time

Due to an emergency or a sudden loss of income, you may need support with your rent. The Chicago Rental Assistance Program (RAP) provides funding so that you can remain in your rental unit without financial pressure. Assistance may include payment towards your security deposit, application fees, a current balance due, or for future rent payments.

If you are interested in receiving assistance from Chicago RAP, check out the eligibility requirements below, and if you qualify, you can apply online at the Department of Family and Support Services.

Chicago RAP Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible for the Chicago RAP program, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be a resident of Chicago
  • Be at immediate risk of homelessness due to eviction, emergency, or loss of income
  • Be considered a low-income household
  • Have your landlord complete RAP requirements

You can prove your eligibility with:
